Invest Europe ESG Reporting Guidelines: Setting the Industry Standard for ESG Reporting
Published 5 October 2022
Category: Impact and ESG
Invest Europe has published a set of ESG reporting guidelines with the aim of providing user-friendly and advanced guidelines on sustainability reporting within the European private capital sector.
Overall, the guidelines contain reporting recommendations and cover regulatory requirements that investors and fund managers must comply with. Further, the reporting guidelines touch upon obligations in connection with voluntary reporting frameworks and standards. The guidelines mainly focus on ESG investing, meaning an investment approach where ESG factors are integrated into the investment decisions and corporate conduct. However, the guidelines also touch upon impact investing where focus is on generating a positive environmental and social impact parallel to a financial return.
The guidelines are based on expert input and developed with support from industry practitioners. They are intended as a voluntary tool, primarily for European firms, and are effective for reporting periods beginning on 1 January 2023 or after.
They are reserved for members of Invest Europe and can be accessed here.
