ELTIF 2.0 in force
Published 10 January 2024
Category: ELTIFs
Today, 10 January 2024, the transition period for the regulation of 15 March 2023 amending the Regulation for Long-Term Investment Funds (ELTIFs), also known as ELTIF 2.0, has ended. Thus, ELTIF 2.0 has now completely entered into force. The regulation is available here.
During the transition period, only existing ELTIFs were able to opt into the new regime. ELTIF 2.0 is now applicable for both existing and new ELTIFs.
The amendments, described briefly in a previous update, enable ELTIF-approved European Alternative Investment Funds to raise capital from both professional and retail investors in the 27 Member States of the European Union and invest in a wider range of eligible assets.
On 19 December 2023, ESMA submitted the draft regulatory technical standards under ELTIF 2.0 to the European Commission for endorsement and final approval.
