While overall venture capital funding has experienced a substantial increase in recent years, the progress has not been as rapid for female founders. In the previous year, startups founded solely by women received only 0.9% of the total capital invested in venture-backed companies in Europe, according to PitchBook.

However, it’s important to note that the situation is improving. The trend for VC funding for female-founded or co-founded companies in Europe has been on the rise in recent years, and 2021 saw the launch of multiple women-led funds and incubators for female founders.

Pitchbook recently published “European VC female founders dashboard”, where you can find relevant statistics regarding women in VC. Access the dashboard by clicking here.
